Kim Burns_Headshot

Kim is a Senior at ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ in the Interior Architecture Program. She is a non-traditional student, family-oriented, altruistic, spiritual and has found she thrives and derives great satisfaction in the creative process.

Kim’s newfound creativity started later in life when she stepped into the Interior Architecture program at OU. She was blown away when, during a perspective drawing assignment, it took six hours to complete but it felt like fifteen minutes. Again, later in one of her studio art and project classes, she grasped her interior architecture passion when she designed The Art Library of the Future.

Kim’s Senior thesis, Frantz Road Art Center (FRAC) focuses on community outreach and centers around natural light, wood, cement and stone. FRAC integrates knowledge and creativity into spaces to foster connectivity. She designed spaces for patrons to give experience or gain experience while crafting in an art studio or maker space, work with wood in a woodworking studio, meditate in a well-being area or join a class in a yoga studio. FRAC is a place to spend time with old and new friends in busy spaces while enjoying a beverage from the café or alone in spaces which are quiet, secure and heavens of natural light.

When Kim is not in class, you will find her in her garden, hiking with her dog, Luna or spending time with friends and family. Her goals are to continue pursuing her passion in interior design, experimenting with color and shape combinations in her garden and continuing a life in her community with co-workers, neighbors and friends.
