Class of 2025 Graduate Profile: Cameron Bowman

HCOM graduate Cameron Bowman

Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate Cameron Bowman is looking forward to putting what he's learned to work. He grew up in Maumee, Ohio and earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati. He matched in internal medicine at Kettering Health Grandview in Dayton.

What are you most excited about as you take your next step in your career?

I'm excited for the added responsibility of taking charge in the care of my patients and creating meaningful relationships with them along the way. As well as being able to put these past four years of hard work and knowledge to use, while continuing to grow and learn more.

If you could go back in time and give yourself advice, what would it be?

Treat studying like a job. Put in the work for a set amount of time, work hard during that time and then allow yourself to clock out, stop studying and enjoy some free time.

What led you to a career in medicine?

Throughout school I have always been curious - wanting to know how and why, trying to solve problems - which gravitated me towards my favorite subject, science. I have a caring nature and enjoy getting to know people, forming relationships. I believe medicine is the perfect combination.

How would you describe your time at the Heritage College?

The longest days and the shortest months. Challenging but also a blast. Met some of my best friends and with med school coming to an end its bittersweet as we all go in different directions.

Looking back on medical school, what were your most important experiences?

Some of my most important experiences in medical school were the long nights at Heritage studying with friends, the post exam decompression at Cats Corner, and of course O鈥橞etty鈥檚 after a night out.

Tell us about your inspirations in life.

My family. My parents for all of their love and support, always. And my brother Nick, he鈥檚 served as a role model to take my education seriously and be responsible in life.

Who has helped you along the way? Is there anyone you want to recognize?

Undoubtedly my parents, my girlfriend, Liv, and my best friends with both academic studies and providing the needed get away from my studies. Also, shout out to Dr. Jason Ryan.

What hobbies do you have?

Video games, golfing, sand volleyball, pickle ball, snow boarding and enjoying a night out with friends.
