OHIO to host special events for Family Weekend

ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµ will welcome family members and friends from across the country to campus this weekend take part in special events and enjoy time with their Bobcats.

Family Weekend, which will take place on Sept. 19-21, will feature a wide range of special events including a Bobcat Family Welcome, special performances, the Bobcat Family Game Fest, athletic events and even zip lining.

Also during the weekend, families are invited to join their students (as long as the students have valid meal plans) for a meal at Nelson Dining Hall or the District on West Green.

Family Weekend is part of a series of special weekends OHIO hosts throughout the year. Other special weekends during the 2025-26 academic year include:

  • Dads Weekend – Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2025
  • Sibs Weekend – Feb. 6-8, 2026
  • Moms Weekend – April 10-12, 2026

Friday, Sept. 19

- Bobcat Families are invited to a special welcome reception on OHIO’s iconic College Green. 6-7:30 p.m.

– All commuter students are invited to stop by to paint plant pots. No experience necessary. 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Living Learning Center.

- This exhibition highlights work by School of Art + Design faculty. 5:30-7 p.m. at the Kennedy Museum of Art.

– 7 p.m. at the Athena Cinema.

- See the premiere of Season 55 of Fridays Live, ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµ's longest-running sketch comedy show, hosted by Will Miller. 8-10 p.m. at the RTV Communications Building, Room 515.

Saturday, Sept. 20

-Stop by the market outside of Nelson Commons on South Green from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The will also be open from 9 a.m. until noon at the Athens Community Center.

- Bring your family and friends to experience Outdoor Pursuits' new zip-line at the Ridges. 10 – 11 a.m. at the Challenge Course at The Ridges.

– 10-11 a.m. at Baker University Center Room 240/242.

- A fun-filled afternoon of interactive games designed for all ages. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Baker University Center Ballroom.

- Lunch Buffet featuring grilled favorites, drink specials, live music and yard games. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the ground floor of Baker University Center.

– 3:30 p.m. at Peden Stadium.

OHIO Hockey Green and White Game – The event will feature a skills competition, 3 on 3 tournament and an opportunity to skate and meet the players and coaches. 5 p.m. at Bird Arena.

- The Ohio Esports arena will be open for students to bring family for a casual night of gaming. 5-8 p.m. at Scripps Hall 001.

– 7 p.m. at the Athena Cinema.

- Best known for co-creating, executive producing and starring in one of the most recognized and long-standing comedy shows of all time, Impractical Jokers, comedian Sal Vulcano will perform in the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium, beginning at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 21

- Bring your family and friends to experience Outdoor Pursuits' new zip-line at the Ridges. 10 – 11 a.m. at the Challenge Course at The Ridges.

– Enjoy a morning of bingo, bagels, prizes and family fun. 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Baker University Center Room 240/242.

Parking

Beginning Friday, Sept. 19 at 12 p.m. all dark green and purple parking lots will be open and available for guest parking.* These parking areas will remain open until the end of the day on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Please ensure vehicles are not parked within the grass, or other non-parking or restricted parking areas. Please also be aware of
